Christmas

This year, like every year, I'm going to Grandma's house for Christmas.  My brother and sister wake our entire family up at 7 just to open presents.  This year, I'm making breakfast for my entire family.  Then at 1, I have to go to Deerfield to my Grandma Spiegel's house to eat lunch and open presents with my dad's side of the family.  It takes five hours because there's so many of us.  Hopefully my grandma will make Snickerdoodles, which are my favorite.  They're my favorite because I've helped her make them since I was little; and they're always soft and sugary.

I Wouldn't Want to Be Anybody Else

If I could be any musician, I would be Ke-dollar sign-ha. (Kesha). That way, I could have no talent, and yet still be famous for it.  I could look like I'm intoxicated in everyone of my videos, and auto tuned in every one of my songs.  I could buy pounds of glitter and wear it on my face.  This is obviously sarcastic, but I really do actually like Ke$sha's music.  I just don't like the way she represents herself.

U.S.S. Arizona Memorial

Out of all of the national landmarks in the United States, I would visit be the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial.  I would have loved to honor the men who gave their lives for our country on December 7th, which was the 70 year anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, "the day that will live in infamy."  On that horrendous day, 1,177 men unexpectedly lost their lives on the ship.  While America was suffering a catastrophic blow, Pearl Harbor was just the beginning.  It was a wake up call for America to get involved in World War II. The U.S.S. Arizona specifically intrigues me because there's so much history behind it; it was previously involved in World War I and parts of the ship couldn't be retrieved after it was destroyed.  Another reason to visit the memorial is because Hawaii is a gorgeous place; a place I've always dreamed of visiting.  Nonetheless, the memorial is by far one of the most popular WWII tourist sites.

As you can see from this aerial view of the memorial, the ship is still submerged in water.

Guys Who Wear V-necks

Personally, I think most guys who wear V-necks aren't attractive.  It depends on the guy.  If the guy has muscles, go for it.  They look good.  If the guy has chest hair, stick to plain tee's.  Newsflash: most girls don't find that attractive at all. Especially me.  V-necks were created for girls for a reason, and that's to show off their figure.  I guess your style is your own personal choice, but this is just my opinion.  Don't wear V-necks if you're hairy.

Turkey Day!

11/24/11.  You know what that means. Thanksgiving! It's one of my favorite holidays.  This Thanksgiving is going to be different for me though.  Our traditional family dinner is being held at my house this year.  That's going to be a challenge because of how small my house is compared to how ridiculously big my family is.  My dad has seven sisters alone.  That doesn't include my uncles, cousins, grandparents, nephew, great aunts, and a whole bunch of other family that I can't even remember their names.  It is the one time of the year where my entire family is together.  All of the guys in my family gather around the flat screen and watch the football game.  The Lions and the Packers play this year; it's going to be a good game, and an even better Thanksgiving. :)

Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day

Today, November 14, is National Loosen Up, Lighten Up Day.  I'm not exactly sure what that's supposed to mean? I'm guessing that you it means you should let things go, and be happy for a change.  Be stress-free.  So I'm gonna be positive today, and so should you :)

I Hate Everything

Today in my third hour Spanish 3 class, instead of translating sentences and whatnot, Sydney and I read a book called I Hate Everything.  It's probably one of the most hilarious, sarcastic, and negative books I've ever read. The author complains about everything from bird being the word to how water magically appears in the mustard bottle.  It's a very contradictory book.  There were a lot of sexual innuendos in it however.  So, it's not very appropriate for school, obviously.  It made my morning though!

Halloween Costumes

The best Halloween costume I've seen yet was a little three-year-old boy dressed up as a toilet.  It was SO funny.  He would laugh hysterically any time you tried to "flush" it.  There was a small red button you could press and it would make the water noise.  They even colored the inside of the toilet yellow, which I found kind of weird.  There's not really any other costume I've seen that's been that creative.

Imagination Station

On Friday, my Exploring Technology class left school to go to Imagination Station.  It was so fun, and it was a Friday, so that made it even better.  I felt like such a little kid the entire time.  I feel as though they try to make the learning experience from a 5-year-old's point of view.  Don't get me wrong, however, there were TONS of little kids all around.  Seriously, everywhere you looked, you'd see another one.  For about an hour, we attended the Bodies Revealed exhibit.  It was so interesting, and yet completely disgusting at the same time.  I couldn't believe all of the muscles, organs, arteries, veins, and bones that were actually inside of our bodies.  It feels so surreal.  The part I found the most repulsive was the full Asian bodies that were put on display.  Everything was dried and shriveled.  I started to get queasy looking at them.  The best part of the entire day was right after that, when Sydney, Molly, Hannah, Kendal, and quite a few others went into the broadcasting room and just stared at the camera and took pictures.  After that, we went in the Gravity Room and I felt like I wouldn't ever walk normal again. However, It got really boring after awhile though and we ran out of things to do by the end. Overall, it was a pretty successful trip and I'd gladly do it again. :)

Surprise!

I woke up to the sound of wrapping paper wrinkling.  I remember not being very excited about Christmas my sophomore year.  I wasn't very excited to open presents at 5:30 in the morning.  I got through all of my presents and I'm not going to lie, I was kind of disappointed.  Basically, I'd only opened clothes and a digital camera to replace the broken one I already had.  My parents surprised me by bringing out a huge box labeled "To Steph and Lauren" in big red letters.  We tore open the wrapping paper and the tons of boxes, and finally got to see our new present.  It was a brand new laptop. I screamed because I was so happy to actually have something to call my own.  The computer we had at the time was super outdated.  It was the best present I'd ever received because it was probably the most expensive.  It was the first time I actually felt like I had privacy.  I didn't even ask for a laptop, and it ended up being the perfect present for me. :)

Weekend

Last Friday was the best.  Friday started out pretty good, I got an Ice Cap from T-Ho's (Tim Horton's), slept in, and didn't have any homework.  At volleyball practice, things didn't go so well.  I didn't practice very good; I wasn't focused and didn't feel good.  Half way into practice, Gena ran into me and tripped over my foot.  I felt terrible because she rolled her ankle.  Toward the end of practice, on the second to last play, I got hit in the face with a ball.  It made my vision blurry and I couldn't breathe.  After practice, I went to our football game at Madison.  It was an amazing game; we won 57-7.  What made it even better was that it was Madison's homecoming. We destroyed :) After I went home, I just watched movies until midnight.  Then my brother and I went on a late night Taco Bell run at one in the morning.  It was delicious. A cop followed us all around town. It was a great beginning to my weekend :)

Complaint of the day!

Get this. So I'm supposed to be working on my "Do It Green" wiki. But instead I'm blogging because my computer looks like it's having a seizure.  I can't type anything without all the words shaking. It was making me dizzy.  It's annoying when you're trying to type and your words are moving back and forth. Syndey agrees!

Actual Complaint of the Day:
People who feel the need to lie constantly.  Like honestly, why can't you just try telling the truth for once in your life!?

Homecoming Week :)

During the last week, Sand Creek celebrated our football homecoming.  On Monday, almost all high school students showed up to school looking like we just woke up.  It was Pajama Day.  Personally, I think it was just an excuse for everybody to dress up like a bunch of bums.  Tuesday, it was Duct Tape day.  There were many shiny, colorful outfits that could be seen around; some were a little more extreme than others.   Wednesday was Decades Day, a day that I didn't participate in.  I'd rather not spend my day dressing up like people from the past.  On Thursday, it was Awareness day.  Everybody who participated supported a cause, like breast cancer,  leukemia, and domestic violence.  Friday, of course, was Green and White day.  I repped my school colors. :)
The Aggies did it again.  We won against Morenci 14-7.  It was a good game, but sitting in the stands was terrible.  It was freezing, rainy, and windy.
For Powderpuff, let me just say, the Junior Girls destroyed the Senior girls.  The Juniors scored 3 'touchdowns' all together, while the Seniors only had 1.  We played well, and had fun doing it; even though it was freezing and rainy.  It was hard not to slide everywhere on the field.  Overall, I'd say Homecoming week was a huge success.

My Old Locker

Our school doesn't change the combinations for our lockers.  This is a video of me just opening my sophomore locker to prove my point.  If I was the type of person, I could just get a five finger discount on anything in my old locker. :p I wanted to put a different video on of my family history at Sand Creek, but my video isn't compatible with the computer.  Anyways, just click up there. ^ :)

So, I just got on Facebook, and now I'm shocked.  They pretty much destroyed it.  It feels like they change it everyday.  I hate having to scroll down forever just to see recent posts.  It's a waste of time. What were you thinking Facebook! Don't try to fix something that's not broken. Seriously.  I was pretty annoyed with it, but then I realized I have a blog, so now I can actually complain about it. :)

I Wish I Was Here

Myrtle Beach :)

Firsts

I'll make this short and sweet.  This is my first blog, obviously. So it's all pretty new to me. The only reason I really have this blog is because it's required for my Exploring Technology class. If you're reading this, you're probably one of my classmates. That's pretty much it. :)
