Blogging

For as long as I have been blogging, I didn't really care for it.  It was sort of exciting at first, but after awhile, that feeling wore off.  I probably won't continue to blog considering that I hardly even get on the computer now as it is.  I only get on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, and that's only every once in awhile.  Blogging isn't necessarily a waste of time, but it is a way to share your opinion with people you don't know, and see if they have the same views.

Student Handbook

Everyone at Sand Creek has to follow the same rules.  Our student guidelines include some very ignorant rules.  If I could change one rule, it would be our electronic device policy.  In an age of new technology and social networking, our world is more connected than ever.  I believe that students SHOULD be allowed to have electronic devices out between classes and at lunch.  During those times, students have their own time to gather their books, and would also have time to check updates that could come to their phones, instead of having their phone shut off for the entire day.  They would be able to talk to others, such as their parents, without repercussion.
The handbook also states that, "Student who fail to keep electronic devices off and out of sight between 7:55 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. will have the item confiscated."  I do not believe that authority figures should be able to take our phones and SEARCH them.  They do not pay for the bill, and it is against our first amendment rights.  It's an invasion of privacy and according to the law, they should have a search warrant, just like the police.  I believe other student would agree with me; that students text in class anyways, and do not get caught.

If I could add a rule to the handbook, it would be to add 5 minutes on the school day, in order to get out of school earlier.  In return, students would have to attend school earlier, and be to class on time.  It's changing the school's attendance policy, without mandatory exams. The school year would be shorter, and our classes and days would be longer.  I would add the rule so students could catch a break from school work.  Weekends just don't seem to cut it.  Longer breaks would benefit in less stress and more sleep, resulting in better test scores.

I do not believe that the administration would agree, because they are old, and do not understand the view of a typical teenager. They do not understand the times that we have grown up in, and that students are becoming less interested in education.  If someone broke the rule, of not attending school on time, they would receive detention after three tardies, which is our current school attendance policy.

Seniors Leave

The seniors are done in only a week.  I really don't want them to leave. The schools going to be really empty and boring.  After they leave, that means I'm going to be a senior.  My grade really doesn't care about anything.  I'm going to miss them and their entire class.  I have a lot of friends in that class. I really wish I could graduate this year and just be done.  Only one more year! Wooo!

Prom

Prom is the one night of the year most high school students look forward to.  It's a night where everybody can look all pretty and fancy, and can have fun with their friends.  I don't think that high school proms are overrated unless you choose to spend ridiculous amounts of money on one night.  This year's prom was actually really good.  I had a lot of fun in the limo.  That was like the best part.  And I had the best date.  We looked pretty.  I didn't go to after prom and instead got grounded because I was sick.  Basically, that's the reason. So other than that, I had a pretty good weekend.

What's on your mind?

Everybody asks me this.  Facebook, Twitter, every social networking site.  I don't understand why though.  Nobody actually cares.  Today has been the worst day.  I have over a month left of school and I have the worst case of Senioritis ever.  I no longer have the motivation to wake up at 6:30 in the morning, do my hair, make-up, eat breakfast, go to school for seven hours, and then go home  and do it all over again.  In almost every single one of my classes we don't do anything.  I don't think that I can go through a whole year of this again.  I just want to get into college and as far away from here as possible.  I'm such a negative person.  On the bright side, only a month until Summer! (: That's the only thing positive about this.

Facebook is the website I use the most.  It's the website everybody uses the most.  I have a Facebook account that I use just about everyday.  The only reason I still have my Facebook is to talk to my friends on chat and look at events and other things people post.  I only use my phone to get on, never the computer.  I think so many people just have to be on Facebook because they feel connected or are curious about what other people are doing.  It's a good way to keep in touch with people you don't see on a daily basis, or just to catch up.  I don't think it's possible for people to have hundreds of friends.  The brain is only capable of having 150 stable relationships with other people at a time.

Some positive aspects of Facebook are:
  • It's an easy way to communicate with your friends.
  • Sharing pictures and information with family and friends is easier.
  • It's something to do when you get bored.
Some negative aspects of Facebook are:
  • It can distract you from doing your homework.
  • Everybody knows your business.
  • People can stalk your profile.

I Am Foxy

I thought this was pretty funny. I was just randomly walking down the hall one day and saw this on a locker.

There is nothing better than..

There is nothing better than summer. Seriously, it should just be summer all day everyday.  There's no school, and you can do whatever you want.  It's also super nice and warm, so you can get a tan.

Spring Break

Literally all spring break I was stuck in stupid Michigan.  This spring break was about as good as it could get considering I didn't go anywhere.  I spent literally did nothing like all spring break.  I spent all of my time at Robert's house, or with him.  I went to Toledo like three times.  We went go carting and put put golfing with Kendal, Wyatt, Matt, and Sara.  We got pictures with a black guy, it was fun.  We sat around, and made work bombs and heard them explode.  We went out to eat, watched t.v., and pretty much did nothing else.  It was freezing out.

National Lazy Day

Every year, National Lazy Day occurs on April 11th.  Every person deserves to have a personal, lazy day where they can just sit around, sleep, and do nothing.  We all need breaks from school, work, and stress.  We need a day to relax and take time to slow down.  People should stay off of Facebook, and other social networking sites, because it should just be a day completely for themselves.  All technology should be shut off, except cell phones, of course.  Just because it's National Lazy Day, however, doesn't mean that it should be National Couch Potato Day either.  Find something more relaxing than just watching television.

Famous Person

If I could meet any famous person dead or alive, I would want to meet Channing Tatum just because he's so attractive.  Not only that, but he's a super good actor. I'd want to meet him alive, because it'd be kind of weird meeting him if he was dead.  He's been looking old lately though.  He looked better when he was younger.

I mean, just look at his abs.

Reading

When I was younger, my favorite children's book was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss.  It was my favorite because I was fascinated with how all of the words rhymed.  My parents always used to read it to me in order to help me fall asleep.  I don't think that most teenagers like to read because there are now computers, iPods, and cell phones that distract them from reading an actual book.  I like to read, but I prefer to read things online because it's easier.  I only read when I have to though.  Honestly, I don't think there's anything that would get teenagers interested in reading again because you either like reading, or you don't.

Pet Peeves

It bothers me when people crack their backs, necks, or knuckles in my presence.  The noise it makes just drives me insane.  It makes me tense up because it sounds like someones bones are breaking.  It all started freshman year when I sat behind Aleta in Spanish II and she cracked her back literally every 5 minutes.  It got so bad that at one point I had to move.

Friends

A good friend is someone who you can be stupid with, talk to easily, and fun to be around.  It's possible to have as many friends as you want, but it gets hard having a lot of friends, and not having enough time to spend with all of them.  Having close friends is easier than having a 'best friend'.  A best friend I guess is someone who you tell everything to, and knows everything about you, and will always be there no matter what.  Facebook friends aren't really considered friends because you may not know all of them personally; they may just be aquaintences. You may not come in contact with them in a daily basis, and it's hard to be friends with someone just over the computer.

Open Shutter Picture

Taking pictures in the dark was sweet because of all the different light effects.

Homecoming

Ever since my freshman year, we have never had school on the day of basketball homecoming because of snow delays. This homecoming week was actually really boring.  I didn't dress up half of the days because I either didn't want to.  The days were repeats of previous homecomings, like Pajama day.  The mini floats were okay, but I can't say much considering I didn't help build them.  The seniors' float was funny.  The pep assembly was actually really boring, and I would have rather been in class.  I didn't really care who became King, so I didn't even vote.

Valentine's Day

Personally, I don't really care for Valentine's Day.  It's just another day.  To me, the card and candy industries only care about selling their products, and don't actually care about the value of their product.  Valentine's Day isn't necessarily an important holiday because you should tell people how much they mean to you all the time; you shouldn't have to have a special holiday just to tell them. If you're single on Valentine's day, it makes it even worse because seeing all of the happy couples is just a reminder of how you're going to be forever alone.   Your mom and dad do not count as your Valentines, because Valentine's Day is a relationship-centered holiday.  In elementary school, the only thing that was special about it was giving cards, and receiving candy.

2/6/12

So, it's February already, and there's probably been a total of a week of snow.  Normally by now, school has closed at least three times.  There's been three days when we've had delays because of fog, but other than that, nothing.  I just hope that we have a bunch of closings before the end of winter, otherwise I'm gonna be mad.

Photography

I don't take pictures.  So, I have no experience with photography. The only pictures that I take are random funny things on my crappy camera phone.  I don't like working with Photoshop either.  I'm not good at it.

Exams

For the semester exams, I think that I did pretty well.  In most of my classes I got A's or B's.  I don't think that we should have mandatory exams because I believe that teachers try to cram too much material into one test, and expect their students too remember all the materials they learned.  It's impossible to do for all seven of my classes.  All it does it create stress.  High school exams are not good practice for college, considering college is completely different from high school.  In college, you know the material that you are studying all along due to the syllabus.  All of my exams were comprehensive for the most part, except for government, which was the hardest.  I studied the most for Chemistry and my major classes. I'd say I spent about 12 hours studying altogether.

Exams

The semester ends in two weeks.  This year it's required that all students take mandatory exams.  I really don't want to because it's a waste of time. Reviewing the same materials over and over again really doesn't do anything.  Not really going to help you in the class.  Most of the time students forget half of the things they learn anyways.  It just causes a bunch of unnecesary stress.

Christmas Break

This Christmas break was by far the best Christmas I've ever had.  This year, I got all of the presents I asked for (mostly because I picked them out), and got to spend time with all of the people I wanted to be around.  On Friday, Han, Aleta, Lauren, Bailey, and I went to Starbucks.  The place was packed for it only being 2.  We talked and watched Aleta steal some little boy's hot chocolate.  Then we went to Wally World and walked around randomly trying to find stuff to do. After that, Bailey and I went to Coldstone, and had the best ice cream ever.  Other than that, I mostly stayed at home or hung out with people. I stayed up until almost 4 every day and woke up at 1.  That's why I don't like school, is because I don't like getting up so early.  That's pretty much it.
